Our Lady Peace - Innocent

This week’s recommendation is “Innocent” by the Canadian band, Our Lady Peace. I don’t have much to say about the song apart from the fact that it is one I’ve liked since my teenage years and enjoy it as much to this day. This time, though, there is a music video for me to share. ...

Foo Fighters - Cold Day In The Sun

This week’s recommendation is “Cold Day in the Sun” by the multiple Grammy Award winning band, Foo Fighters. While, the Foo Fighters have won multiple awards for multiple albums and songs, this song is one that often gets outshone by the other, more “popular” ones. It’s written by Taylor Hawkins, the band’s drummer, who also leads the vocals on this one, rather than the regular frontman, Dave Grohl. In some of their live performances, there is often a running joke after this song, where Growl remarks that Hawkins is is “not a bad singer” for being a...

Nada Surf - Beautiful Beat

This week’s recommendation is “Beautiful Beat” by Nada Surf. It was featured in the 12th episode of season 3 of the recently concluded show, How I Met Your Mother, entitled “No Tomorrow”. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find an official music video on YouTube. The best I could find is a video with the “Album Art” as the video. This live performance of the song is pretty decent, though. ...

Embrace - Ashes

This week’s recommendation is a song from FIFA 06. “Ashes” by Embrace was stuck in my head for a really long time back when I was playing FIFA 06. Aside: I rediscovered this song recently. The story of how that happened is mildly fascinating. There was a clip from a an old FIFA song that was playing on repeat in my head. It was on almost constantly. I just knew 2 lines, the melody, and nothing else. All I could remember was that it was in a FIFA game I’d played in my childhood. After a few days...

Ball Park Music - It's Nice to be Alive

This week’s recommendation is a song I chanced upon on an internet radio channel I used to frequent. (It isn’t live anymore, so, I can’t link to it.) “It’s Nice to be Alive” by Ball Park Music is one of those songs which has a high probability of getting stuck in your head. In this case it’s a good thing because it’s a very feel-good, and mood-brightening song. Even the video is pretty interesting. It shows the reaction of the band and their friends to the news that a meteor is about to hit...
